How things work at Soitron in IT interviews

There are countless articles on how to prepare for an interview. However, we thought we’d put together a few points that are important to us at Soitron. We will save you time spent googling and make it easier for you to prepare.

LET’S START FROM THE BEGINNING

You can learn about our open positions from job portals, social media, or from a friend that works at Soitron, who gives you a recommendation. If you’ve expressed interest in any of our open positions, sent your resume, and met our requirements, expect a call from us.

During the call, our colleagues – recruiters will verify and supplement the information you provided in your resume. If you receive the call at work and you can’t talk, we’ll gladly arrange another more suitable time to call. During our initial contact, we will briefly introduce our company, ask a few questions, and provide guidance on how to prepare for the interview, so be attentive during the call.

You’ve passed our telephone pre-screening, and we’ve invited you for an interview? Stick to our Ten Commandments

THE INTERVIEW TEN COMMANDMENTS

  1. Prepare: Do you remember what position you are applying for :-)? If so, be prepared to present yourself. Based on your resume, prepare your thoughts on what you want to tell us about your studies, your previous experience, your technical skills, but also about your expectations and your motivation to work for us. Prepare questions you want to ask us and come to the interview in a good mood. That will help to get us started.
  2. Dress Comfortably: Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable. It is important to us that you feel good. The choice of your outfit is up to you. What we can tell you is that we don’t go to interviews wearing suits either :-), please, forgive us.
  3. Be on Time: We’re not sticklers, but we believe that arriving on time is a matter of common courtesy. If for whatever reason you’re running late, we won’t get mad, just let us know about your delay. It doesn’t hurt to save the phone number of the recruiter who communicated with you for any such unforeseen situations.
  4. Don’t be surprised by our Interview Panel: Several people may come to see you at the interview: the recruiter you communicated with, your potential supervisor, or a future colleague. Don’t worry, we just want to save your time and ours and avoid a 3-5 round selection process. However, if the position requires it, you may need to come for multiple rounds.
  5. Forgive us for our Informal Language: We are all on a first name basis in our company, and that’s why it may happen (especially with our IT colleagues) that we get carried away by the relaxed atmosphere of the interview and start addressing you informally. Well, we don’t always manage to stick to the protocol :-), but we try.
  6. Reserve at Least an Hour of Your Time: The interview usually takes about an hour, so please arrange things so that neither you nor we have to rush.
  7. Think logically: In many interviews we tend to give logical assignments, but we are not always after the result; we are more interested in HOW YOU THINK. Don’t let our interview procedures surprise or scare you.
  8. Don’t Hesitate to Say I DON’T KNOW: Questions in the interview are asked not only by recruiters, but also by specialists who can dive deep into various technologies or topics. It is not a shame to say that you are not familiar with the issue yet. It is much worse to pretend that you understand everything.
  9. Ask questions: If you don’t understand something, don’t hesitate to ask. In interviews, we try to tell candidates as much as possible about the position, the culture of our company, and describe the next steps in the selection process. However, we are only human, so if we forget something, remind us by asking questions. We will always invite you to do so. If you have done your preparation and listened carefully, we will certainly have something to discuss.
  10. Be Prepared for Feedback: After the interview, we try to give feedback to every candidate. You’ll find out what we liked about you, what next steps we’re thinking about, but possibly also why we won’t be continuing with you in the next rounds. Every feedback makes us grow, and that’s why we would also appreciate if you tell us your opinion about us. The length of the selection process is different for almost every position. I’m sure you have been there – a manager goes on vacation or a business trip and the recruiter doesn’t get feedback as quickly as they would like. Don’t despair, if you feel after the interview that we should have gotten back to you long ago. Drop us a line or give us a call; we like proactive people.

We look forward to seeing you at Soitron!
