Speech & Brunch Košice: Andrej Kiska recommends to create corporate philanthropy strategy by heart

On April 19, second of discussion meetings of Brunch series, dedicated to leading personalities of the Slovak business, took place in the Hilton Hotel, Košice. Soitron invitation was accepted by more than 20 representatives of major companies from Košice region. These participants, together with the main guest Andrej Kiska, founder of the charity organization Dobrý anjel, discussed business and philanthropy.

According to reactions of the guests, it was evident that Mr. Kiska opened many inspiring themes including charity. For example, he shared his experiences with company management within family and talked about beginning and pioneering philosophy of his extremely successful company Triangel. His innovative thinking was also reflected in the establishing process of his charitable project Dobrý Anjel, financing of which is based on extremely transparent principle. In the discussion of unforeseen challenge solution and managerial decision-making, he recommended to follow intuition and heart feeling. Majority of the guests consider Kiska´s opinion a truth admitting that they were very often returning to their first sense during key decision-making. Participants of the Brunch identified themselves also with Kiska´s statement that role of the manager lies not just decision-making, but also creating good and motivating atmosphere.

Guests, expecting philanthropy discussion and inspiration also received several useful advices and recommendations for opportunities to donate. Mr. Kiska was led to philanthropy by his idea of preserving a life-balance. He managed a very successful business and he realized that during his life he was getting much more in comparison with the others. That´s the time when he started to feel the need to reciprocate in some way. As he said, help doesn´t have to be based only on cash and money. Very often it is much more useful, when the company can use its own specialization. A company, that makes components for cars, can be very effective in help for example by transporting ill people to medical facilities. Or company, that provides information technologies, can help by providing video-technology in oncology department to ill children, who are forced to spend a long time in a sterile environment without any real social contact. Mr. Kiska doesn´t perceive 2% of taxes dedicated to nonprofit organizations as a fulfillment of the moral need to help. It is not possible to donate something we don´t own any more, something we don´t pull out of our own pocket.

Thanks to Brunch, another expectation of the guests was also fulfilled – test of one of the most advanced technologies. This meeting was managed through the latest video technology of Telepresence, which represents very effective alternative to personal meetings. Andrej Kiska with moderator Andrea Vadkerti could communicate with the audience “as live”, despite the fact that they were situated in Soitron headquarters in Bratislava, and their audience in the Hilton Hotel, in Košice.

Successful series of Soitron Brunches will continues on May 5 in Štrbské Pleso. Representatives of the key companies in the regions of Žilina and Prešov, have an opportunity to discuss with Mr Peter Zálešák, founder and co-owner of the company Nay, topics as peaks and crisis in business, sales networks making, owner´s leadership handover to hired managers and other topics attractive for senior executives.
